2005-06 IIR FACULTY GRANTS
The IIR grants program has been expanded this year to cover
more areas of support:
- Working group grants to support formation of faculty and graduate
student clusters on specific topics. Up to $3,000.
- Planning grants to support development of large-scale extramural
grant proposals. Up to $3,000.
- Data initiatives to support collection of new datasets or to
make administrative datasets available to IIR researchers. Up
to $10,000.
- Academic research conferences at UCB, including travel and related
expenses. Up to $15,000.
The deadline for proposals is Monday, May 16, 2005.
Award decisions will be announced in mid-June.
Early submissions: To permit additional lead
time for making commitments to GSRs or for projects that will
be underway during the summer, proposals submitted by Monday,
May 9, 2005 will receive expedited reviews.
As you know, this faculty grant program comprises a central
part of IIR's mission to support faculty research and to train
graduate students. As in previous years, we will give priority
to junior faculty as well as to faculty who submit extramural
grant proposals through IIR or who contribute in other ways
to IIR.
We also encourage faculty and graduate students to apply for
support to the new statewide Labor and Employment Research Fund.
Graduate students especially should note the fellowships that
support masters and doctoral dissertations. Faculty may submit
identical applications to IIR and the LERF and IIR will consider
applications that are not awarded by LERF. Further information
on this program, including the call for proposals, is available
via the IIR web site or at http://www.ucmru.net.
